What is vlogging?

But, what is vlogging, anyway? Vlogging is a term used for a form of video blogging that became popular during the early 2000’s. This form of web television caught on in a big way when videos were distributed of interesting individuals provided glimpses into their daily lives. Sort of a public video journal.

“I’ve spent a lot of time doing some self discovery. Youtube have been a really fun way to interact with people and it’s hard to edit video because I get excited about reading comments and interacting with people before I even have my videos uploaded. Making YouTube videos gives me a reason to do something interesting every day of my life.”

YouTube statistics

  • 48 hours of video are uploaded every minute, resulting in nearly 8 years of content uploaded every day
  • Users upload the equivalent of 240,000 full-length films every week
  • 150 years of YouTube video are watched every day on Facebook
